Project Ormer - Progress Report

During its first year of operation the participants in Project Ormer have managed to search 100 intertidal sites across Jersey. Nearly 200 ormers have been located and tagged.

As well as tagging and measuring ormers, the surveys are looking at their ecology, growth rate, movement and mortality. This means revisiting the survey sites regularly to relocate, re-measure and re-photograph the ormers.

We are grateful to the many people who have helped with this project, especially those that have been willing to tag ormers and those recreational fishers who have reported finding tagged specimens to us.

Below is a graph showing the size distribution of the ormers we had tagged up to the end of 2017. This is just small part of the dataset - a full analysis and report will be made during 2019.
